Blog Assignment 6: Seen in the Real World

One of my most favorite places to visit on campus is the Argo Tea in Milne Library. At Argo, students can get a refreshing drink to help them study, as well as coffee and other foods. The typography of Argo tea is relaxed, being that it is all in lowercase letters, and the logo is simple but distinguishable. The light green that they use on their walls and banners is natural, calm, and serene, just like their tea and environment.

  1. The letters of “argo tea cafe” being all lowercase certainly does give their image a relaxed feel. The bright green banner they use is bright, strong, and bold to grab your attention, but is also a different green which continues to provide a calm vibe to the cafe. The small circle to the left side of the words “argo tea cafe”, is very simplistic and neat but provides nice movement. The movement to me may resemble tea or a drink being poured and is the stream of liquid to the cup. A hopefully satisfying feel. Overall I think the green color provides most of Argo’s branding throughout the campus.

  2. The lowercase typography really does give an inviting but relaxed feel. I also used Argo Tea as an example in one of my blog posts. I like how you compared the movement of the circle to the pouring of tea in a cup.
