Design Week

Design Week is a company in the UK that used to be an actual magazine. In 2011, they switched to online-only viewing. They feature lots of posts and information regarding different brands, graphics, interiors, and more. There is tons of news about different designers and also have job postings right on their website. I think this is a great design blog because it offers many unique features, like the job postings, that make it stand out from other design blogs.

Feel free to check it out.

Femme Type

I found the design blog “Femme Type” to be beautifully done. This blog allows women a space to post about different styles of type whether they are type focused designers or creators. The header used for the website is eye-catching as it is built from a variety of type faces. This is appropriate for a design blog about type design and creation. As one scrolls down the page, women note each interesting piece of type they have found or are exploring. It is truly a fascinating collection of women who share the same love and interest. For a closer look, find the website here @ https://femme-type.com

Great Design Blogs: Abduzeedo

I love this website and I thought it will be a good idea to share it here. Abduzeedo is a collective of individual writers sharing articles about architecture, design, photography, and UX. Founded by Brazilian designer Fabio Sasso in 2006, it’s particularly strong on 3D work, which doesn’t get much attention from most design blogs. with its wide variety of topics and writers this is the perfect place to go when you are looking for inspiration. on the websites goal is to be an open and safe space for the design community, and it highly encourages feedback which this is one of the reasons I love it so much, is a great way to meet people and share work. beside this the website offers a wide variety of tutorial for the well know design apps and program. Created from artist to help artist.

Great Design Blogs: Women Of Graphic Design

This graphic design blog caught my attention because it gives women a place and chance to show their work. This blog also explores issues of gender-equality by designs. I really liked this page seeing art showing their stands on political and economic issues and more. They took their designs and made it more related to the world. This blog includes many different forms of art between website designs, logo designs, typography, magazines and more this is a safe space to upload your art on different issues for it to be seen. If you are looking to see artwork with deeper meanings and pieces to take a stand on many problems this is the perfect blog post. The designs on this page take art and use it to express themselves while still creating work for clients. I really enjoyed this blog page and recommend it to any other readers looking for this type of blog.

Great Design Blogs: The Design Blog

The Design Blog was founded, designed, and curated by Croatian designer, Ruby Bacanovic. TDB includes carefully curated design inspiration from designers and design studios, mainly focusing on young designers and students, all across the world.

Home page of The Design Blog

I love the color pallete of this blog: different shades of yellow, dark brown, white, and pops of bright blue. Every color contrasts each other so that it stands out. It makes the blog feel bright and fresh.

This blog is easy to navigate and provides a great source of visual inspiration. There are many specific categories to choose from, which makes finding artistic inspiration straightforward.

Great Design Blog: Vogue Talents

Ivanah Alexandre

I decided to look through the winners and nominees of the awwwards to find some impressive blogs. They did not disappoint. Awwwards has a great catalog of great graphic design in the world of websites, blogging, apps, magazines, etc.. One of the blogs that caught my attention was the World of Vogue Talents blog.

What I found particularly interesting about this blog was how the designer decided to set up the blog. It is not your traditional blog set up. The blog is set up in an interactive way that simulates a fantasy world in which the user can “fly” around through. Using the mouse the user can glide to a page which would lead them to a link. It is very unique! I don’t see a lot of websites or blogs set up this way. The style of art reminds me of a modern video game but it is very chic and “tech”. The mouse “grows” greenery (leaves, plants, flowers) around it as it moves which is a detail I really love. There is also a sense of a foreground and a background. There are mountains in the background. Once you click on one of the links the the pictures sort of dance around which is cute.

I Love Typography (ILT)

by Ayannah Newton

I Love Typography is a great blog with an abundance of news and info about typefaces. They hold a number of events including a series called “Font Fashion Week” (below), which features and celebrates the latest trends in the world of typography. They even have a great amount of typefaces by numerous designers available for purchase. The design of the pages may seem a bit cluttered, yet they are very organized which makes things easy to find. For example, if looking to purchase a typeface you can view the available fonts based on the typeface category (as seen on in the first right-hand sidebar).
